Ergonomic office chairs at BNR Kantoor
At BNR Kantoor, you'll find a wide selection of attractive ergonomic office chairs. Standard features include adjustable seat, lumbar support, and armrests, with an optional headrest. All office chairs meet occupational health and safety requirements, and a large number of the chairs comply with the (N)EN 1335 or NPR 1813 standards. You can easily adjust the ergonomic office chairs to your personal preferences. This makes them suitable as chairs for individual workstations, as well as for flexible workspaces. The comfortable office chairs always provide perfect body support, preventing back pain, neck pain, and shoulder complaints.
Ergonomic office chairs made of mesh and foam
Most of our office chairs have mesh upholstery. Mesh is a type of net, made of nylon and cotton. This means it's not a dense material and has no padding. As a result, the chair has optimal air circulation. This is pleasant, as it prevents a warm backrest and seat. Of course, you'll also find chairs with foam backrests and seats in our range, should that be your preference. Foam provides excellent back support and creates a comfortable seating surface.
Ergonomic office chair with headrest
For optimal neck support, choose an ergonomic office chair with a headrest. Your head rests on the headrest, preventing excessive strain on your neck and back muscles. An ergonomic office chair with a headrest makes it much more comfortable to lean back. This makes it easier to stay relaxed and upright at the same time.
NPR ergonomic office chair
The average Dutch person is relatively tall. That's why the NPR 1813 standard was created. These chairs are specially designed for Dutch people: they are so adjustable that they are suitable for 95% of Dutch people. For example, the seat height adjustment has a larger range, and the backrest height is also more generous.
What is an ergonomic office chair?
Ergonomic office chairs are equipped with adjustable features such as backrest height, seat depth, and armrest height. You can ergonomically adjust the office chair to your personal preferences. Adjustable armrests ensure relaxation from shoulder to hand. And the specially shaped backrest provides optimal support for both the lower and upper back. All these conveniences ensure that you remain energetic, healthy, and productive at work. In addition, ergonomic office chairs are effective in combating complaints: due to their high degree of adjustability, they optimally support the arms, back, and legs.
The importance of ergonomic office chairs
Ergonomic working is important. An incorrect chair causes you to sit incorrectly. And since we spend many hours sitting in the office, an incorrect posture can lead to painful shoulder, neck, or back complaints in the long run. An ergonomic chair provides you with all the conveniences, so you can get through your workday comfortably and without complaints. Ergonomic office chairs are specially designed to optimally support your body. Pressure points are distributed correctly, and a natural sitting posture is promoted. This significantly reduces the strain on your body.

Frequently asked questions
What makes a good ergonomic office chair?
That varies for everyone and depends, among other things, on your height, weight, and the work you do. When buying an ergonomic office chair, pay particular attention to whether the seat is not too deep and whether the height adjustment range is sufficient for your height. It is also important that the chair has ergonomic back support, preferably adjustable.
How do you properly adjust an ergonomic office chair?
You properly adjust an ergonomic office chair in 8 steps:
- Make sure your chair is at a height where your feet are flat on the floor.
- Sit all the way back on the chair seat.
- Ensure your knees are at a 90-degree angle.
- Keep a fist's width of space between your seat and your knees. Use the sliding seat to achieve that position.
- Create a sitting angle of between 90 and 110 degrees between your legs and your torso.
- Adjust the lumbar support (in your lower back) so that it properly supports the S-shape of your spine.
- Bring the armrests to the correct height: let your shoulders hang relaxed and keep your forearms horizontal. Now lightly press your armrests against your forearms.
- This last step is not so much an adjustment of the office chair, but of your desk. Set your desk top even with or slightly below the height of your armrests. An adjustable desk is therefore very important. For example, choose a sit-stand desk.
