Surface-mounted modules: power and data without renovation
A surface-mounted module is placed on the desk or tabletop and provides immediate power, data, and USB — without the need for drilling or milling. This makes surface-mounted modules ideal for existing tables, flexible workstations, and situations where quick and easy installation is desired. At BNR Kantoor, you will find surface-mounted modules in various designs. Also, view our complete range of electrification & cable management.
Types of surface-mounted modules
Surface-mounted modules with power
Surface-mounted modules with power sockets (Schuko) provide power directly on the tabletop. Compact in size and easy to connect to the mains via a connection cable.
Combination modules (power + USB)
Combination modules offer power and USB charging ports (USB-A and/or USB-C) in one compact unit. Ideal for meeting rooms, canteens, and flexible workstations where employees and visitors want to charge quickly.
Surface-mounted modules with data
Surface-mounted modules with network connection (RJ45) offer a wired internet connection directly on the tabletop. Ideal for meeting rooms where a stable connection is required.
Wireless charging modules (surface-mounted)
Surface-mounted wireless charging modules (Qi) are placed on the tabletop and charge smartphones and Qi-compatible devices without a cable. Easy to move and no installation required.
Advantages of surface-mounted modules
- No drilling or milling: ready to use immediately
- Flexible to move to another workstation or room
- Ideal for existing desks and tables
- Power, data, and USB directly available on the work surface
- Easy to expand with additional modules
Surface-mounted vs. flush-mounted: what suits your situation?
Do you choose a surface-mounted module or a flush-mounted module? A surface-mounted module is easier to install and more flexible to use but sits on the tabletop. A flush-mounted module gives a sleeker, more professional result but requires a cut-out in the tabletop. For new desks and conference tables, flush-mounting is often preferred; for existing furniture, surface-mounting is the practical choice.
Applications
- Flexible workstations: fast power and USB available without fixed installation
- Meeting rooms: power and data for presentations and discussions
- Canteens: USB charging points for employees during breaks
- Existing desks: easy upgrade without renovation
Frequently asked questions about surface-mounted modules
How do I connect a surface-mounted module?
A surface-mounted module is connected to the mains via a connection cable. The cable runs neatly via a cable tray or cable spine to the nearest socket or wall connection.
Can I also use a surface-mounted module with a sit-stand desk?
Yes, surface-mounted modules are excellent for sit-stand desks. Make sure there is sufficient cable length and use a flexible cable sleeve so that the cables can move with the height adjustment.
